Progress on socks; not much

The trekking 100 socks are bright and vivid. That almost 100 stitches around sure takes time to do. I am on the foot on those. I don't have a more updated picture of the Trekking 106 socks that are toe up; my laptop keeps telling me I have to delete files before I can post pictures. I thought I had lots more memory in this.

Ravelympics 2008

I am planning on doing the SockPut on Ravelympics and think, not sure, but think I joined Team Hogwarts. I don't really have yellow yarn to hand (YES we ALL know I have some, I don't know where it is for the project) so I will do my Hufflepuff Nutkins in Vinca yarn. Of course I need to find the pattern and take a picture of the yarn with it to show. It won't be yellow per se.
Who else is in the Ravelympics??

I am flunking KAL

Oh, I got pictures from the other participants of the KAL and they are working both socks at the same time and they are down to where you need to consider for the heels. Me??? LOSER. Man, I have one toe. No cast on for the second sock, no pattern work in the Storm pattern. I was going to settle down, then the earthquake hit and the news is all abuzz. I called Mom and she felt the hard jolt in San Bernardino, then I called Sis in Italy to report our maternal parent is fine (sister used to live very close to the area hit) so I am still a bit spacey. Not that I felt much, I thought it was the boy cats in the garage romping around, hearing the soft food for Hootie being placed in the kitchen (she is on thyroid pills so I have to bribe her and the boys are too much for her to deal with during the process). I will take pics tomorrow of the socks in Vinca........don't expect much from me.

What was lost, is now found again

I did some extra looking and searching in rooms that shouldn't have knitting in them and found one pattern I was looking for and lo, in my KNITTING ROOM (go figure) found the new circular needles and the new Double points. All the others have been gradually getting found. I don't know how things get separated like that. But, in retrospect, it is good that not all things were in the same place.

EVER misplace about all your needles?

Yesterday I was on my way to a friends to start on a KAL and had packed the Vinca yarn for all of us, but could not find the pack of Harmony sock needles, or even the packs of the circular needles I got in Harmony and Nickle. I am sure I tossed them into my knitting room, but in what bag, and in which direction??. I mean, which and where, I have no idea. I have a couple of weeks to find things and organize them way better. I suspect I was attempting to de-clutter the living room for my husband and I did a frenzid sweep. More to post about the sock KAL as it happens.

still socking along

I have been knitting but the progress is slow going as I am spreading myself thin on multiple socks. No pics yet.

Sorry to be remiss

My Step Mom loves her socks!

My Step Sister has IM'd me to let me know her mom got the fuschia socks already!! I only sent them on Saturday and they made it sound it was going to take days to get there back east. How cool is that?

Well, at least they are done, and green

I forgot how swollen my ankles are; the picture is not attractive but the socks are comfy. I guess I should have added a bunch of stitches for the ankle to compensate.
Princess is not impressed, and now I can allow myself to finish the superbowl socks in Trekking. Kewl.

Here is a better picture

I got some sock blockers, in size large, womens and put the completed socks on them.. They look much better stretched out. I have to do the heel on another sock for my step mom but I am going to do the heel in the Queen Kahuna way so I have to learn how.

finished socks

I have to bind off the second green sock, the other socks are all bound off. Finally!

Oh, and that flower? That is an Eppiphyllum, Sound of Music and it is about 8 to 9 inches wide and still opening.

I am on the ribbing on the socks

Since my socks for my wheelchair-bound step mom will be only about crew length, I am on the ribbing on both.

I don't have THAT picture up on the computer, of course.

Well of COURSE as soon as I posted, the pictures migrated into a different orientation!!! Sorry.

Finally took pictures, can you handle it?

Finally used the newly recharged camera to take pictures, some are not that detailed but I had to deal with a cat who decided the background I chose, a bright green towel, was the perfect foil for her tortise-shell rump. So if you see a dark something at the top of the pictures, that is indeed what you are seeing.

So, here we go: This is the Cascade Sassy Striped socks, I believe?

Now, lets' see what else I captured: On the top left, a sock for my step mom in On Your Toes in Fuschia and green, and then there is in the middle at the top: those Knit Picks Felici yarn in Arugula color, and an update photo on the Trekking XXL 100 color socks, with the start of the heel flaps. The arugula socks are almost done, one has the ribbing almost done, need to bind off, and the other is waiting for the needles to be free so I can do the ribbing. Then I can wear them! I have been working on the fuschia socks, I will try to show both of them together next posting. Sorry it took so long to post pictures.

Lunch and knitting ensue

I had the same meal I had a month ago, it was good then, it was good now. I finished a short-rowed heel for my step moms' sock, and my friend was using a different method on her heel and we finished at the exact same time. I took a picture of her sock on her foot as she was trying it out; California casual, trying on socks in a restaurant. I was wearing the socks I knit in the Knit Picks Felici yarn, in Clay coloway and while I loved that I put on the picot edge, next time I will make the edging in larger stitches or something as it was a bit tight. Not badly so, but it took a bit of time to manuver it on my leg so I didn't rip out the yarn. Hmm, can't find the picture of the socks in my files. I need to send my friend her picture of her sock, guess I will make up some more folders so I can figure where to store things I guess. Ever since I got my laptop back my folders are all wonky and disorganised.

would you believe still no pics?

I charged the battery on my camera and then couldn't arrange the socks to look like I had actually worked on them. I am on the ankle of one of my step mothers socks, and she wants them a little higher than crew cut, and the other is being short rowed. I might do a gussett on the other pair, my friend Colleen did that, a la the Crazy Heels and Toes way, as we both have Queen Kauhuanas' book but my eyes glaze over. Speaking of glazing over, I stayed up late but got up early as I thought today 3 of my eppiphyllums would open; not yet, maybe tomorrow but the amaryllis' are open.
I am going to lunch to day with friend Colleen and pictures will ensue.

no pics

I got to go to lunch yesterday at Pei Wei, and totally enjoyed the food. The place is by the same people who own PF Changs, which I love, but can't afford all that often. The diner like place is way cheaper as there is no wait staff; you order at the counter and someone brings your food to you, like Pic up Stix, but unlike Pix up Stix, the dishes got whisked away as soon as they were empty. I can't wait to go back ; the dan dan noodle bowl at Pei Wei is only $6.95 as opposed to about twice that at PF Changs.. funny thing is, the location is about one freeway offramp away from each other. I had lunch with Liz, another knitter and we showed off socks, she is a representative for really yummy yarns and made socklettes in the most soft yarn, and we got to share food. Oh, I can't forget my Vietnamese rolls, wonderful!! Then we went to her place and got to talking about our hubbies and their hobbies and I got to meet her talking cat. I was so happy, I miss talking kitties, I came to realize mine aren't talking as I guess they have so many others to talk to they don't talk to the owner. Hmm. I hope we do that again. I am still working toes in the Vinca yarn so there isn't much to show off. I ripped one of the socks back about 8 inches one day on the step-mom socks, and last night, ripped about 4" on the other sock. I can not figure why the same size needle, the same yarn and the same hands can produce a fabric on a separate sock that is that much looser. Interesting, and I stayed up late to try to put back the stitches. OK, pix next time, OK?

There was some ripping out

I just won't what, and how much.

OOPS, I did it again

See that blue stripey color with green and sort of brown, in front to the right? I cast on today, even feeling as sick and ick as I do/did. I drowsed off watching tv for a couple of hours and actually feel better. I was all reclined in the chair, and one of the varmints (Gremlins brother) was trying to rip up the underside of this chair, making me think that these guys are part ferrett, not just cats. Anyway, I am going to do these toe up again. So there. I did it again. No knitting on already started stuff, just starting a new sock "JUST BECAUSE". Gee, I had a better attention span when I was still in my twenties!! wonder what this presages?

Good Afternoon

I have 5 cats with a rhino-virus, the vet said I could use benadryl to help them breathe, but the funny thing is, I too seem to have a rhino-virus, not a normal cold, so there was NO knitting yesterday at all. Nary a stitch. So, having got up at 2 in the afternoon, I don't project much being accomplished today; am roasting garlic in the oven, maybe the smell will wake my sinuses up. I got kitties sneezing but the wheezing seems to be over, and 3 cats have somehow not come down with anything. Good thing I don't have kids to take care of. Lemme find a knitting picture to make us all feel better :)

Oh, that first picture? Apparently Gremlin, who will be 2 in May, is feeling MUCH better and jumped from the top of the cat tree onto the top of the valance and curtain rod; that sight woke me from a snooze while I had been watching tv, and scared the bejeebers out of me, but what a brave little guy. Of course, he also thought, soon dispelled, that he would jump on the top of the halogan lamp. The Vinca yarn is going to be cast on soon, I have a friend who has a daughter with a love of pink, I have a love of green, so I thought she might like this. I need to show her the colors, it is obviously a big amount of yarn so I can share. While having lunch at Chilis' on my anniversary, with a friend in lieu of my deployed spouse, I took a picture of her socks she is doing the Queen Kahuna way using the Crazy Heels and Toes way. I got my book long before she got hers, years ago and haven't done it and she is swearing by it. The yarn is from Knit Picks, in Hawaii, landscape yarn (now discontinued) and it is much prettier in person. She is loving the interesting pooling.
